TRIAC Light Dimmer - This little circuit can be used to dim
lights up to about350-Watts. It uses a simple, standard TRIAC circuit
that, in my experience, generates very little heat. Please note that this
circuit cannot be used with fluorescent lights. (Arron

Two Wire DC Lamp Dimmer replaces Rheostats - 10/23/97 EDN-Design
Ideas.....Originally for use in commercial trucks, a low-cost dc lamp
dimmer (Figure 1]can control more than 100W of incandescent panel lighting
and replaces a high-power rheostat, whose heating darkens the
instrument,..... [Design Idea by Kevan O'Meara, KO Systems, Chatsworth,

Varying Brightness AC Lamp - In this circuit, an SCR is used to slowly vary
the intensity of a 120 volt light bulb by controlling the time that the AC line
voltage is applied to the lamp during each half cycle. The circuit is directly
connected to the AC power line and should be placed inside an enclosure that will
prevent direct contact with any of the components. To avoid electrical shock, do not
touch any part of the circuit while it is connected to the AC power line. A 2K, 10
watt power resistor is used to drop the line voltage down to 9 volts DC. This
resistor will dissipate.... [Bill Bowden's web site] |
White LED driver provides 64 step logarithmic dimming - 10-Jun-04 Issue of
EDN The circuit of Figure 1 is designed for portable-power applications that
require white LEDs with adjustable, logarithmic dimming levels. The circuit drives as
many as four white LEDs from a 3.3V source and adjusts the total LED current from 1 to
106 mA in 64 steps of 1 dB each. The driver is a charge pump that mirrors the current
