Hidden Panic Switch  -  Design an electronic switch which would be positioned behind a wall at several key positions and would be activated when an adult human hand was pressed against the wall at that position.  The best way to detect the human hand against a wall was with a capacitance switch.  The QTFS3X from Faraday switches looked like a perfect match.  The switch could be powered by a DC voltage down to 3v.  It required only 30ua of current.  It was quite small and would easily fit behind the wall. . . . Human Footstep Alarm   -  This circuit processes the amplified signals from the footstep detector circuit and activates a microprocessor when the circuit detects footsteps.  At has an adjustable sensitivity . . . Circuit by David A. Johnson P.E.-July 11, 2006

Indicates when it is Time to Dust   -  I thought about this circuit when I heard that a lot cleaning personal in hotels were either dusting rooms more often than necessary or not enough.  I have not yet built and tested this circuit completely but in concept it should work . . . High Voltage/Current & Temperature Monitoring -  The LTC2990 is used to monitor system temperatures, voltages and currents. Through the I2C serial interface, the device can be configured to measure many combinations of internal temperature, remote temperature, remote voltage, remote current and internal VCC. The internal 10ppm/°C reference minimizes the number of supporting components and area required. Selectable address and configurable functionality give the LTC2990 flexibility to be incorporated in various systems needing temperature, voltage or current data. __ Linear Technology/Analog Devices App Note, Oct 26th 2010

Hijack Alarm -  There are two alarms here, be sure to scroll down.  The first circuit was designed for the situation where a hijacker forces the driver from the vehicle.  If a door is opened while the ignition is switched on, the circuit will trip.  After a few minutes delay, when the thief is at a safe distance, the alarm will sound and the engine will fail __ Designed by Ron J

Home Security -  PIC Project  Creating a modular, networked, home control system was greatly simplified by using common 4-wire phone cable with stake-on connectors.  The cable feeds both power and network signals to the various modules.  Each module is made on a single sided circuit board with RJ-11 connectors (for the network/power) along with other connectors as needed.  This eliminates the need for placing power feeds (wall worts) for each of the modules.  The entire system runs on one power feed. __ Designed by Luhan Monat, Mesa, AZ

Home Security Project -  The security system application and program offers a simple demonstration of the BASIC Serial Interface.  By adding only a few door and window switches, a transistor, a siren, (see schematic) and a few lines of BASIC program (see program listing) the interface can become a multi-function security system.  Please note, however, that it is a "barebones" program.  It is left to the reader to fancy it up to their liking. __ KD5ZUG
