Automatic Charger for Battery Operated Hi-Fi Preamps - For those who want the cleanest possible DC for sensitive preamps, battery power is ideal. At last, remembering to turn the charger back on is no longer a problem! This project is one for the experimenter, but as shown will work extremely well. The sensing circuit can be made so sensitive that a load of only 2.5mA is enough for the circuit to detect, and disconnect the charger. __ Designed by Rod Elliott ESP
Balanced Mic Preamp for PCs & MP3 Players - Want to connect a professional microphone with balanced outputs to the line input of your PC's soundcard or an MP3 player, for high-quality voice recordings? This microphone preamp circuit lets you do just that. It features a balanced input, has a clipping indicator LED and can be powered from a USB port or from an external DC source. __ SiliconChip
Balanced Microphone Preamp - As I said in my cheapo digital audio project document, I was going to build a microphone preamp to attach a Behringer ECM8000 measurement microphone to line input of my minidisc deck. After scanning the web to see if similar projects existed, I basically found three kindsones that used transformers (ie. pretty expensive to start with) and some even followed those with tubes and another transformer (damn expensive). __ Designed by © Madis Kaal

Bride of Zen - The Bride of Zen (BOZ), designed by Nelson Pass and described in The Audio Amateur, 1994, is a very simple line-level preamplifier which contains only a single medium-power MOSFET per channel (see the schematic on this page). Mr. Pass has given a very lucid account of the design philosophy. Building instructions including the lay-out for a printed circuit board can be downloaded from Passlabs. According to mr. Pass, the variable resistor P102 should be adjusted in such a way that the voltage drop over resistor R108 (in the absence of an input signal) is 4 Volts. However, in my own homebuilt BOZ I found this to be incorrect. The preamp sounded good using a cassette deck or an FM tuner as the signal sources. However, using a CD player a nasty form of distortion occurred during crescendos. __ Designed by Aren van Waarde

Electret MIC Amplifier - The Elecraft XG2 is a crystal oscillator with accurate 1 µV and 50 µV output levels. It's
ideal for receiver test and alignment. The 1-µV output can be used to measure a receiver's
sensitivity, while the 50-µV output is useful for S-meter calibration. Switch-selected
output frequencies of 3579, 7040, and 14060 kHz provide convenient test signals on 80,
40, and 20 meters; harmonics of these frequencies can be used for measurements on
higher bands __ Designed by Andy Wilson
