Interfacing Sony Control Stick to Empeg After discovering that others had interfaced wired remote controls to their Empegs (including Sony control sticks) I decided to try to do it with the fewest components possible.  You may find that there are too few, if your power is very noisy (as can happen in a car environment) it may help to place a 0.1uF and/or 10uF capacitor before and/or after the voltage regulator.  At the moment I'm not using these but at this point I've only tested it on the bench, not in the car.  I'll update this web page after it's all installed. __ Designed by charlie @ armory.com

Interfacing the LTC1290 AN36 A collection of interface applications between various microprocessors/ controllers and the LTC1290 family of data acquisition systems.  The note is divided into sections specific to each interface.  __ Linear Technology/Analog Devices

Interfacing the LTC1298 with Standard Parallel Port Homemade ADC board that interfaces LTC1298 with 486 PC.  Pacific C source code for LTC1298 driver.   __ Designed by Wichit Sirichote

Interfacing the PIC16c508 Each of the output lines of a '508A microcontroller can deliver a maximum of 25mA.
What does this mean?  It means any device connected to the line must take 25mA or less.  If it takes more than 25mA a buffer transistor (also called an amplifying transistor) must be used and this will be discussed in a moment.. __ Designed by Prepared Colin Mitchell

Interfacing to Microprocessor Based 5V Systems AN50 Linear Technology This App Note discusses a variety of approaches for interfacing analog signals to 5V powered systems.  Synthesizing a "rail-to-rail" op amp and scaling techniques for A/D converters are covered.  A voltage-to-frequency converter, applicable where high resolution is required, is also presented.  __ Linear Technology/Analog Devices

iPod / USB MP3 charger using MC34063 switchmode regulator Schematic Only

iPOD Charger The circuit's pretty simple, basicly it's just a voltage regulator.  Both the LM317 and the REG1117A (LDO) fit the PCB, maybe there are even more types that I'm aware of that can be used on it.  I did add one extra thing: a LED that shows if the connected device is consuming power.  To do this I used a shunt resistor and a current converter.  I choose 0.2 ohm for the shunt, since it's not hard to come by and should only drop 0.1VAT500mA.  Either an INA168 (current output) or an INA193-198 (INA194 is best in this case) (voltage output) will fit as current converter.  The trip point at which the LED should start to burn can easily be adjusted by one resistor (in case of the INA168) or by two (in case of the INA193-198).  In the schematic it is set at 100mA using an INA168 using a 950k resistor.  The Schmit buffer is a Texas Instruments Little Logic chip (1G17).

iPod Nano 6th Generation Stuck Buttons Being used in a mountain-top repeater, our TM451 transceivers suffered severe frequency shifts as the temperature varied.  They are exposed to temperatures as low as -15C in winter and as high as 45C in summer, and the original crystal oscillator is too sensitive to this variations.  We measured the repeater to be as high as 2.5Khz up or down in frequency depending on ambient temperature, and we looked for a solution __ Designed by Roberto Barrios EB4EQA

IR Remote Control for Home Appliances IR Remote Control for controlling home appliances can be easily made using Decade Counter CD4017, 555 Timer and TSOP1738 infrared receiver.  By using this circuit you can easily control your home appliances using your TV, DVD Player remote control or using a remote control circuit described here. __ Designed by Abhay Bajpai

ISA bus provides access to serial peripherals 02/17/97 EDN-Design Ideas Designers often switch from parallel to serial data-interface configurations to save pins and shrink IC packages.  A serial interface consists of one bidirectional data line, a clock line, and--sometimes--additional control lines or lines that organize data transfers.  You can easily connect peripherals with serial interface to the ISA bus through an I/O port that latches control and data bits.  By sending appropriate bit patterns to such a port, you can set data and control lines and toggle the clock to send information to and receive information from the peripheral bit by bit.   __ Circuit Design by Jerzy Chrzaszcz, Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw, Polandby

Isolated Power Supply with Virtual Remote Sense The LT4180 solves the problem of providing tight load regulation over long, highly resistive cables without requiring an additional pair of remote sense wires.  This Virtual Remote Sense device continuously interrogates the line impedance and corrects the power supply output voltage via its feedback loop to maintain a steady voltage at the load regardless of current changes.  __ Linear Technology/Analog Devices App Note, Jun 7, 2010
